The Brokenhead Ojibway Nation is seeking a reliable and detailed-oriented individual to fill the full-time position of Custodian. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for children, youth, families, and staff accessing services. This role is essential in ensuring that facilities meet health, safety, and cleanliness standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning of offices, common areas, washrooms, and program spaces
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize floors and surfaces
- Clean and disinfect high-touch areas regularly
- Empty garbage and recycling bins and ensure proper disposal
- Restock cleaning supplies and report inventory needs
- Conduct minor maintenance tasks (e.g., changing light bulbs, reporting repairs)
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
- Support set-up and clean-up for meetings, events, and programming
- Maintain confidentiality and respect for all program participants
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred
- Knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and safety practices
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Physically able to perform cleaning duties (lifting, bending, standing for extended periods)
- WHMIS certification is an asset (or willingness to obtain)
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check (required)
- Willingness to submit to a pre-employment drug test and future random drug testing
- Ability to provide three (3) references upon request
