 The Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Health Department is seeking a qualified and compassionate Family Violence Prevention Worker to join our team. This position plays a vital role in supporting families and children, promoting safety, and preventing family violence in our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support and counseling to individuals and families affected by family violence.
  • Deliver case management services, including intake, assessment, and referral to appropriate supports.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, case notes, and reports.
  • Collaborate with child protection services, community agencies, and other partners.
  • Facilitate support groups and one-on-one sessions.
  • Develop and deliver educational workshops, prevention programs, and community activities.
  • Participate in community events and training related to family violence prevention.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience in the helping field.
  • Counseling diploma in social services (or related field).
  • Registered with a relevant governing body if applicable
  • Experience working with families and children in Indigenous communities
  • Clear understanding of Indigenous culture and history
  • Demonstrated ability to provide case management and maintain detailed case notes.
  • Experience facilitating groups and individual sessions.
  • Skilled in developing workshops and community-based activities.
  • Proficient in computer programs (e.g., Microsoft Office, case management software).
  • Ability to work evenings and some weekends.
  • Must be willing to submit a pre-employment drug test and future random drug testing
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
