Today, Chief and Council of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation met with Rural Municipality of Lac du Bonnet to officially sign a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), a major milestone that has been in the works for over two decades!

This groundbreaking agreement marks an important step forward in strengthening the relationship between Brokenhead Ojibway Nation and the RM of Lac du Bonnet through cooperation, partnership, and shared opportunities for future growth and development. The MOU reflects a commitment to working together in good faith on land development, municipal services, economic growth, and long-term sustainability for both communities.

This process traces back to Treaty Land Entitlement discussions that began in the early 2000s and represents years of dedication, collaboration, and perseverance by leadership past and present. Today’s signing ceremony was not only a significant accomplishment, but also a meaningful moment of progress and relationship-building between neighboring governments.
