Brokenhead Early Leaning Child Care Center is a warm, nurturing early-learning environment committed to providing high quality care and education for children.  We focus on play-based learning, emotional development, and building strong relationships with families.

We are seeking Cook/Custodian who will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals and maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within the Brokenhead Early Learning Child Care Center. This dual‑role position supports daily operations by ensuring high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meal Preparation — Plan, prepare, and serve daily meals and snacks following dietary guidelines, allergies, and cultural considerations.
  • Kitchen Safety — Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, follow food‑handling regulations, and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
  • Cleaning & Sanitizing — Perform daily custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, disinfecting surfaces, and maintaining washrooms.
  • Facility Maintenance — Monitor building cleanliness, restock supplies, and report maintenance issues.
  • Waste Management — Collect and dispose of garbage and recycling according to facility procedures.
  • Health & Safety Compliance — Follow Manitoba health, food safety, and workplace safety standards.
  • Team Collaboration — Work closely with staff to support daily routines, special events, and emergency procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in food preparation, custodial work, or both
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and cleaning procedures
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks
  • Strong time‑management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Criminal record and vulnerable sector check
  • Experience in childcare, school, community centre, or healthcare settings
  • WHMIS training
  • Knowledge of allergy‑safe meal planning

Successful candidate must submit to a pre-employment drug test and future random drug testing.
