Brokenhead Ojibway Nation has been actively working on Our Children Will Live Law in accordance with Bill C-92 that will give the Nation the authority to oversee child welfare and services to their children and families with the eventual goal of transitioning all children in care and Family case files from the Designated Intake Agency currently providing service to Brokenhead Ojibway Nation children and families to the Lodge of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation.
Reporting to the Executive Director of the Lodge of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation, we are seeking a detail-oriented individual on a one-year term contract to complete comprehensive file reviews of all children in care and family cases of the current designated Agency that services Brokenhead Ojibway Nation. The position is based in the community of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor of Social Work. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation and traditional knowledge and understanding of Anishinaabe teachings
- Experience or knowledge of colonization and its current and historical impacts on Indigenous people
- Knowledge and application of legislation; specifically, but not limited to, Bill C-92, An Act Respecting First Nations, Metis and Inuit Children Youth and Families, The Child and Family Services Act, The Authorities Act, The Adoption Act, The Advocate for Children and Youth Act, and relevant standards and regulations.
- Experience in Senior Management, policy analysis and development
- Knowledge of CFSIS and Intake Module
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Must submit criminal record check and child abuse check
- Adult Abuse Registry Check
- Prior Contact check
- Valid Manitoba Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
- Must be willing to submit to pre-employment drug test and future random drug testing
