Brokenhead Ojibway Nation is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the full-time term position of Community Liaison.  Working under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Community Liaison is responsible for supporting community members by facilitating access to available programs and services. The incumbent will accept and review applications for member benefits based on established eligibility criteria, maintain a secure and up-to-date database of benefit usage, and monitor associated program budgets. The Community Liaison acts as a key point of contact for members seeking assistance and ensures efficient and equitable delivery of supports.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive, review, and process applications for membership-related benefits and programs.
  • Verify applicant eligibility based on established criteria and document decisions accordingly.
  • Draft and monitor program budgets in coordination with the finance department.
  • Track expenditures and ensure alignment with program allocations.
  • Maintain a secure database of all benefit applications and approvals.
  • Track individual and cumulative benefit usage by members.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for members inquiring about available benefits.
  • Provide information sessions and materials to ensure awareness of eligibility requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Culturally sensitive and has an awareness of BON values, culture, and traditions
  • Diploma or degree in social work, community development, public administration, or related field (or equivalent experience) is an asset. Minimum High School Diploma
  • Experience in client services, program coordination, or community liaison roles
  • Effective communication skills to interact with community members, various community groups, relay information, and address community concerns
  • Knowledge of community resources and services to provide appropriate support and referrals to community members
  • Financial management skills to develop budgets, allocate resources, and ensure the financial sustainability of community programs
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey information clearly and concise in person and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work flexible hours and to be responsive to the needs of the organization as a whole
  • Ability to work with discretion, empathy, and cultural competency.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the community as needed.
  • Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Willing to submit a pre-employment drug test
