Building on the former Building Healthy Communities and Brighter Futures Initiative Programs, the Brokenhead Mental Health and Wellness program embodies the spirit and intent of both programs. It aims to enhance mental wellness and promote life-enhancing education in a culturally safe and aware manner, ensuring that we respect and value the cultural beliefs, practices, and needs of our community members. This approach ensures that our initiatives are inclusive and respectful of their diverse backgrounds. Our approach includes, but is not limited to, promoting healthy lifestyle choices, mental health awareness, and stress management within a community-based setting.
Under the direction of the Wellness Coordinator, the program ensures alignment with its goals and coordinates with other programs and initiatives to prevent health and wellness issues. The Health and Wellness Team encourages, supports, and promotes the well-being of children, individuals, families, and communities, fostering individual empowerment by advocating on behalf of families and children’s care in human services.
The Brokenhead Mental Health and Wellness program is deeply committed to the well-being of the community. It is our unwavering commitment to enhance the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of the community. By empowering the community to take an active role in programs, planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and administration, the program ensures that the community’s needs are met. This approach not only increases individual and community awareness in the prevention of health but also establishes a more coordinated and integrated delivery of health services, promoting, preserving, and protecting the treaty right of health.
