Very exciting times in Brokenhead, we’re currently finalizing our school renovation project with the paving of our school parking lot. Please be patient and let your children know to be careful during this time. We have been working with NDC Construction on this project and we’re very pleased with their work in supporting our community in making our STPS safer for our children and staff.

Also located adjacent to our band office, we’re currently prepping a lot for our new bus garage, this project is being led by Seko Construction. We can’t wait to bring our new bus home to our brand new facility!

The Chief and Council are very excited about the opportunity of bringing buffalo back to our Brokenhead Ojibway Nation! In partnership with Sakimay First Nation under the Buffalo Treaty that was originally signed by Nations in Alberta on September 24, 2014 (General 1 — Buffalo Treaty https://www.buffalotreaty.com/relationships). The goal of the Treaty is to bring Buffalo back to the prairies!

Our fencing posts arrived this week! We are hoping to have our Bison Ranch project completed by this fall in anticipation of bringing the buffalo to our community this Winter! We will be hosting a formal signing agreement ceremony and celebration with the Zagimē Anishinaabek, stay tuned for details!

In addition, our brand new Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Jordan’s Principal little bus wrap has been completed and brought home! Both buses are being used this weekend to take our members to camp Manitou! We are very excited about these projects, with more development being planned for our community!

Meegwetch,

Chief and Council
