Today we are pleased to share that the City of Winnipeg, with the support of the Federal government, has approved our application for the Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) Grant for the Affordable Housing project located at 269 River Avenue in Osborne Village.

This project will see a 147 unit apartment building being constructed with over 40% of the units being less than 70% of the median market rent. Our goal is to to provide a new, truly affordable, option for our BON Urban members, post secondary students, and the wider Winnipeg community, offering affordable living spaces near employment and educational opportunities.

Riverbank stabilization work is already underway.

Key features include:

  • 147 modern residential units, with 60 affordable housing units
  • Riverfront-facing suites with spacious private terraces
  • Double-height lobby, fitness center, secure parcel lockers, and heated indoor parking
  • Outdoor amenity spaces with seating and BBQs
  • 24 units directly facing the river, with 150 feet of river frontage
  • Non-combustible construction
  • 1.33-acre site with a 150-foot setback from River Ave

Our BON Corporation and development team has applied for additional support from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) via the Affordable Housing Fund and we expect to receive an approval in the coming weeks.

The Council and I are very excited about this project and are hopeful this is just the start in finding solutions for our urban housing needs, and generating much needed revenue for our nation.

Meegwetch to Mayor Gillingham and his administration and all involved. Please keep an eye out for more updates on this project.
