Brokenhead Ojibway Nation (BON) is seeking TWO (2) highly motivated individuals to fill the full-time positions of Early Childhood Educator Assistant. Working under the direction of the Early Childhood Education (ECE), the Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Assistant is responsible for providing quality care to children in a safe and nurturing environment. They must have strong communication and organizational skills and be able to work as part of a team. Responsibilities include supervising and engaging with children, developing activities to encourage learning and development, and providing support to the Lead Teacher. The ECE Assistant must also be comfortable with basic diaper changing and feeding tasks.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Exceptional cultural sensitivity in working with First Nations Peoples and Governance
- Assist in setting up and cleaning up classrooms and play areas
- Supervise children during play activities and nap times
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding
- Help children with activities such as arts and crafts and reading
- Teach basic skills such as counting and colors
- Enforce rules of conduct
- Interact with children in a positive and encouraging manner
- Maintaining a safe and clean environment
- Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Politically and culturally sensitive and has an awareness of BON values, culture, and traditions
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience working with children
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Patience and enthusiasm for working with children
- Must provide a clear criminal record check, child abuse check, and adult abuse check
- Willing to submit a pre-employment drug test
