Ratification Process
NOTICE OF VOTE
TO: MEMBERS OF BROKENHEAD OJIBWAY NATION
TAKE NOTICE that a Ratification Vote shall be held in accordance with the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Community Ratification Process in order to determine if Eligible Voters approve the First Nations Election Act (FNEA) or the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Leadership Election Law for Brokenhead Ojibway Nation (BON Election Law). Whichever of the FNEA or BON Election Law is approved by a simple majority of the participating Eligible Voters will become the election law process for Brokenhead Ojibway Nation.
The following question will be asked of the Eligible Voters of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation by ballot:
“Do you approve:
- ➢ The First Nations Election Act (FNEA); or
- ➢ The Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Leadership Election Law (BON Election Law)
For the Eligible Voters wanting to vote in the Ratification Vote process in the City of Winnipeg, this will take place on 16th of October 2023 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Canad Inn, Garden City at 2100 McPhillips Street, Winnipeg, Province of Manitoba.
For the Eligible Voters wanting to vote in the Ratification Vote process on the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation reserve this will take place on 17th of October 2023 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Community Hall in Scanterbury, Province of Manitoba. Electronic and paper copies of the FNEA and BON Election Law, may be obtained from the Governance Assistant, at the BON Administration Office, 1 Anishinabe Way, Scanterbury in Province of Manitoba, telephone 204-766-2494. Copies may also be obtained by [email protected] .
AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE that all Members of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation who are 18 years of age or older as of the date of the Official Voting Day of the Ratification Vote are eligible to vote,
PROVIDED THAT SUCH MEMBERS MUST COMPLETE A VOTER DECLARATION FORM.
Voter declaration forms are available from the Governance Assistant or Ratification Officer at the address and telephone number appearing below.
ELIGIBLE VOTERS CAN COMPLETE A DECLARATION AT THE POLLS UP TO THE CLOSE OF THE POLLS ON THE OFFICIAL VOTING DAY.
