STATE OF EMERGENCY
Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Band Resolution:
DO HEREBY RESOLVE:
WHEREAS: The Chief and Council ofBrokenhead Ojibway Nation, are empowered by the people to act on behalf of the First Nation and are recognized as having such authority by the Government of Canada pursuant to the Indian Act;
WHEREAS: The Brokenhead Ojibway Nation, as represented by the Chief and Council is concerned with the health and safety of its members and in particular the community located within Brokenhead Ojibway Nation reserve;
WHEREAS: On March 11 ,2020 the World Health Organization has declared the Coronavirus (COVID-19) a global pandemic;
WHEREAS: The Government of Canada has taken emergency measures in response to the Corona virus (COVID-19);
WHEREAS: On March 20, 2020 the Province of Manitoba declared a State of Emergency in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic;
WHEREAS: The Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic could last for weeks or months, and have devastating effects on Brokenhead Ojibway Nation;
WHEREAS: Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Chiefand Council will take all necessary steps and make all reasonable efforts to protect and safeguard its members during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
That Chief and Council of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation hereby declares a State of Emergency on April 3, 2020 and immediately enacts the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Community Emergency Response Plan.
The Chief and Council of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation hereby also may enact other measures directly related to the safety of its members as the Covidl9 crisis changes.
